3 Things to Watch:

Sid’s good-to-go.

  • Despite some early-week speculation on their status, both Sidney Crosby and Alex Galchenyuk will suit up for the Penguins Thursday night. Forward, Brian Rust was recently placed on IR and will miss the game.

Bold move, Cotton. Will it pay off? 😬

  • Evan Rodrigues will be out of the lineup as a healthy scratch against the Penguins. Ralph Kreuger attested the scratch to the depth of the Sabres’ forward lineup: “When you see that level of scratch, you can see that it’s not just words. It’s actions here. It’s a competitive situation. In the end, it was the mix that took him out of it.” (Thanks to Mike Harrington @ByMHarrington for the quote).

Goalofsson on 1st Line Duty

  • After sniping his way through a grimacing six development camps, Victor Olofsson has finally found a spot on the Sabres’ roster — and it’s not a bad one to be in. It was confirmed on Tuesday that Olofsson, who scored in each of the Sabres preseason games, had made the Sabres roster and would start the season on a line with Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart. Olofsson’s waited a long time to secure full-time duty in the NHL and should be instantly dangerous with his spot on the top line and top power play.
