The Sabres have filled two big holes before the free agency period officially opens, bringing in goalies Carter Hutton and Scott Wedgewood.
Hutton’s deal came in at 3 years, 2.75 Million AAV, a little cheaper than expected. Reporter Andy Strickland noted that Hutton “left money on the table elsewhere,” to sign with the Sabres. It’s a win-win deal for both sides as the Sabres only end up paying 2.75M, while Hutton can compete for a starting job this season.
Wedgewood’s details are a little more unknown as of right now but it’s being reported as a 2-way deal worth $450,000. Wedgewood has experience both in the NHL and AHL and should serve as a nice net-minder for the Americans next season.
